glorify

Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

Psalms 73:25-26 NIV

Our greatest treasure is in heaven.

Isn’t it ironic that the more we get the more we want? We make money, we desire more money. We achieve success, we want more success. If we’re not careful, we may begin to worship the blessing instead of the One who blessed us.

God created us to enjoy his creation, but nothing on earth can truly satisfy our deepest longings for pleasure, purpose, and significance. Outside of God, they are false forms of security providing temporary distraction.

The Lord is our portion. He sustains. When things get tough we remain inwardly strong. This is the secret of those who trust in God. Whose eyes are fixed on the eternal. We draw our significance from the Father’s love and fill our emptiness from the only well of hope that can truly heal and purify who we are.

When we develop a craving for Jesus, when He is the absolute object of our affection, we find ourselves becoming deeply satisfied. Little by little, everything we do begins to stem from a life consumed by Him. Our flesh and our heart may fail time and time again, but once we’ve experienced him, we realize nothing else will ever compare.

Practice

worship

Worship is total surrender of ourselves to God for who He is— living immersed in the revelation of Jesus. How can you take your ordinary, daily life— your cleaning, driving, cooking, rehearsing, meetings, exercise, errands, relationships, dreams, instant gratifications — and place it at the alter of His refining fire. Let’s recenter our lives on God today and give our attention to His work and His presence. Experience the peace that He releases into your life as you place Him back into His rightful position and make your heart His earthly dwelling place.
