Our Story

What began as a simple weekly devotional has grown into a thriving online community of women from diverse backgrounds, centered on Scripture, prayer, and encouragement.

Monthly we gather to be equipped and empowered to remain rooted in Christ and serve as faithful disciples wherever he has called us to be.

Only one thing is necessary..

meet the founder

I’m Makenzi—a preacher and Bible teacher from Seattle, WA, with roots in both New York and Los Angeles. I guide people into a life of abiding in Christ, awakening to God’s presence, and living with joyful, radical obedience in the ordinary.

In 2020, I founded Abide to encourage women to deepen their relationship with Jesus. I received my Masters in Biblical Studies at Reformed Theological Seminary, have led Bible studies, retreats, and discipleship spaces in both church and para-church settings, and preached in various churches on the east coast and west.

Currently, I serve on the pastoral staff at Vintage Church in Pasadena.

  • It’s really helped me to stay in God’s Word, I have a lot of different avenues of worship and prayer and listening to God’s Word, but being in my journal everyday has just reminded me when I was first on fire for Jesus..thank you Abide.

  • "I know I can come on here to talk with sisters in Christ, get Christlike advice and prayer, and that has been one of my favorite things about Abide."

  • "I found I can be myself here, and I’m safe to be myself here..in a world where its easy to shrink back and hide yourself, vulnerability is your superpower. To be embraced in addition to being a human navigating this world, we’re ultimately pointed back to our Savior, Jesus Christ."

    Ashley Lewis

  • "I took a leap of faith, started meeting with some of the women online and my life is forever changed. I’ve never spent more time in the Bible than I have before joining Abide. "

    Kristin Bruce

  • "I have found a space to be vulnerable and a space where everyone is working to live their real lives in line with God’s Word, finding it hard and difficult, but recognizing it is a realistic pursuit."
