Our Story

What began as a simple weekly devotional has grown into a thriving online community of women from diverse backgrounds, centered on Scripture, prayer, and encouragement.

Monthly we gather to be equipped and empowered to remain rooted in Christ and serve as faithful disciples wherever he has called us to be.

Only one thing is necessary..

  • Abide is grounded in a simple but essential focus: remain in Christ (John 15).

    We cultivate a Christ-centered environment where women are encouraged to grow spiritually, find support and be equipped to share the gospel faithfully.

    The Vine: An Abide Retreat
    A 3-day retreat designed to help you slow down, reconnect, and deepen your relationship with God—through guided worship, study, prayer and time to simply be.

    • We believe in one God displayed in three persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

    • We believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord and Savior.

    • We believe he was born of a virgin, was crucified, died, and was buried; and rose from the dead, making a way for us to have a new life.

    • We believe our salvation is by grace through faith in Him alone.

    • We believe people are created in the image of God to worship and glorify God.

    • We believe in the sacred covenant of marriage between a man and a woman.

    • We believe in the presence of the Holy Spirit, who empowers the Christian life and makes the gospel livable and practical.

    • We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God, the true story of the entire world.

    • We believe Jesus will return one day and will end all sin, suffering , evil and brokenness.

    • We believe he will judge the living and the dead and all those who put their trust in Jesus’ life, death and resurrection will enjoy being with God forever.

meet the founder

I’m Makenzi—a preacher and Bible teacher from Seattle, WA, with roots in both New York and Los Angeles. I guide people into a life of abiding in Christ, awakening to God’s presence, and living with joyful, radical obedience in the ordinary.

In 2020, I founded Abide to encourage women to deepen their relationship with Jesus. I received my Masters in Biblical Studies at Reformed Theological Seminary, have led Bible studies, retreats, and discipleship spaces in both church and para-church settings, and preached in various churches on the east coast and west.

Currently, I serve on the pastoral staff at Vintage Church in Pasadena.

  • Abide is a community inspired to encourage a life of undisturbed union with Christ; a life that blossoms growth and the fruit of the Spirit. Our focus is not only to provide biblical knowledge but also to foster meaningful community among women. We emphasize teaching how to read and understand Scripture, personal spiritual growth, and deepening one's relationship with Christ. At the same time, we create space for women to be vulnerable, encouraged, and supported throughout their faith journeys.

  • Due to the frequency in which we gather, consistency and commitment are encouraged but not expected.

    Abide is meant to serve you, not add pressure. Come when you’re able and receive what is helpful.

  • It is pastoral, authentic and spacious. Come as you are. Engage lightly or deeply.

    Each call will have a focused devotional or short teaching from scripture, a word of encouragement or practical equipping, monthly resource curation, and guided prayer together.
