“Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.
Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.”

Psalms 37:4 NIV

Our grand mission in life is to pursue utmost delight in the Lord.

God is inviting us into relationship with him, so that we may know him more intimately, uncover his heart and glorify him in all that we do.

We are so desperate to find our purpose in this world, to find people who love us and understand us and to receive that of which we so desire, and yet our Father in heaven desires to give all of that to us.

If we would only come and sit in his presence.

What has become the normal daily consumption of media and engagement is confusing our souls with false meaning and purpose. The constant chime of our phone and email and its ruthless demand for our attention. The immediate access to every form of knowledge and news. Delighting in God is an opportunity to “lay aside every weight” (Heb 12:1) that hinders us in order to receive the treasure of knowing Christ.

As we delight in the Lord, we will find that our desires become aligned with his. Delighting in God requires setting aside time in our day for him— intentionally putting ourselves in a place that allows us to experience his presence.

If you create space to meet with God everyday, he will meet you there.

Practice

simplicity

Simplicity is a process of eliminating distraction in order to make room for what we most value. Here are a few thoughts on ways to unplug this week:

-Turn your phone off at 8 pm. Give yourself time in the evening to read a book or pray or spend time with your roommate/spouse.

-Don’t check your phone right when you wake up. Allow your spirit space and time to breath. Enjoy the silence.

-Fast from social media or cut down your usage throughout the week and see what it does for you.

-Go for a walk. A bike ride. Take a dance class. Leave your phone at home.

Whatever you choose, let it lead you on the path of treasuring God. Take a deep breath and listen to what God might be speaking to you. He is with you, His spirit is guiding you and His grace will empower you to do whatever He is asking.
