faithfulness

“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. ‘The Lord is my portion,’ says my soul, ‘therefore I will hope in Him.’”

Lamentations 3:22-23

There is so much power in remembering what God has done and believing He will do it again.

Many of us might view this summer season as a sabbath – a time to slow down and pause on regular rhythms to embrace simpler routines and quiet living. For others, this might be the busiest season of the year, full of travel and prayers answered or prayers of longing being prayed. Wherever you find yourself this summer, I encourage a moment of pause to sit and reflect upon this characteristic of God: His faithfulness.

If you are resting and relishing in the slowness of summer, reflect on God’s faithfulness and how it brought you here. His faithfulness transcends seasons, carrying you through the last one to this current time of rest and provision.

If you find yourself in a summer of chaos, lamentation, and waiting, remember where God has been faithful in your life and believe that He will do it again. There is so much power in remembering what God has done and believing He will do it again.

A simple truth is that God’s love is unchanging. A truth that is often harder to remember is that His faithfulness is with us in each season and that in His unchanging nature we can still learn something new about Him. As we move through one changing season to the next, we may learn more about His character, see a new side of who He is for us, and meet a new level of His grace, but through and through, we have His faithful love, compassion, and provision. What a beautiful thing to reflect and meditate on.

With grace,
Bailey Williams

reflect:

Where have you seen God’s faithfulness in your summer? What prayer are you praying to continue seeing His faithfulness? Can you meet with Him today and praise Him for how faithful He’s been for you?

centering prayer:

Abba Father, thank you that while we change, you are the same yesterday, today, and forever. Would we remember your faithfulness in our lives and hold tightly to who you are as our seasons change. We pray for hearts that would meditate on your steadfast love and we believe we will continue seeing your faithfulness in our lives. Amen.
