see

“What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus asked him. The blind man said, “Rabbi, I want to see you.”

Mark 10:51 NIV

As we focus on God, the Spirit gives us eyes to see with hope.

Jesus didn’t need to ask the poor, blind beggar Bartimaeus, about the desire of his heart— He knew. His question was not to probe information but to encourage him to hold fast to his faith; to make his request known to God and trust in the Lord with all his heart.

Can you imagine the rejection this man encountered daily? The pain, embarrassment and isolation, and yet, he refused to miss this moment. Bartimaeus knew only Jesus could do what he had been dreaming of for so long. His honest and desperate cry arrested the attention of his Savior that day where his faith set him free.

What is it you long for most in this season? In these days of uncertainty and unrest that only seem to be escalating, let this be an encouragement to cry out to the Father. Set aside distractions and sit at His feet. He’s waiting. His heart is burning with passion to meet your needs, give you hope and walk alongside you. (Ex 34:6)

We need His help to see things from His perspective—
to see sin the way He sees it.
to see others the way He sees them.
to see ourselves the way He sees us.
to see our circumstances the way He does.

This is what abiding in Him looks like— actively depending on Him and trusting Him to uncover our gaze once again, to the beauty that is our Savior Jesus Christ and see the world through his loving and merciful eyes.

I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe.” (Eph 1:18-19)
