“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.”

Proverbs 9:10 NIV

Wisdom begins when God carries more weight in your life than anything else.

As we begin again; a new year, a new day, a new task; let us begin in the fear of God for that is where we will find wisdom.

King Solomon discovered that a revered fear of the Lord was the pathway to wisdom, which alone provides fulfillment of life. This fear develops when we recognize God for who He is. He is merciful and gracious. Slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. His existence isn’t merely for our blessing and personal desires. He is LORD—holy, sovereign and worthy of praise, for in Him dwells all majesty, might and glory.

Knowing His true nature positions us to possess wisdom, to see life through His eyes and respond accordingly (Ps 29:2).

Whether you’re entering this new season with anxiety, concern, or ease— be encouraged in God’s all knowing, all present and all powerful wisdom. You don’t have to figure it all out on your own. Life does not consist in the amount of wealth you acquire, followers you gain, or the position you hold. It is not dependent on your accomplishments, relationships or skills. Trust in the Lord with all your heart; Lean on His understanding. For He has good plans for you, despite what it may seem (Pro 3:5-6, Je 29:11).

If we believe God’s Word and remember it; If we delight in His commands and apply it to our hearts; Then we will come into the knowledge of the Holy One and discover His perfect and pleasing will (Ro 12:2).

reflect:

Where do you need wisdom? James 1:5 writes, “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” Wisdom guards our path. Ask for it; Seek it out. Trust in the One who knows all things and has your best interest in mind.
