welcome
“For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified.”
2 Corinthians 2:2 ESV
May you long for a deep knowledge of the one who created you.
The modern day world can be described in a series of words, but in the last season or two many of us have felt one in particular so strongly — busy. Maybe you have experienced this for a while or maybe it wasn’t until recently you have started to feel the weight of the world around you heavily. Many of us are in a season where we are yearning for a peace that can only be found in one thing — the Father. We are crawling to the altar on Sunday to experience the one moment where we can forget all else and simply “be” with God.
Recently, Steffany Gretzinger spoke a word that is still lingering in some of our souls. If you haven’t seen it already, I recommend dropping everything and spending the next hour listening closely. She said: “What He (God) longs for is communion; what He longs for is intimacy,” for “He is always hoping that we won’t just hear the word and run away with it but that we will get to know the one who gave the word...who is the word. You can’t know someone if you don’t sit with them”.
We must get to know Him for who He is, so that we can truly understand what it means to be who we are.
There is something so beautiful to be found in taking the time to welcome Jesus into our daily walk. To come to know Him as our number one supporter and truest friend. To feel His arms wrapped tightly around us as we experience life. This may look like praying silently as you walk to refill your coffee in the office, or starting your day on your knees in worship. No matter how many directions we are being pulled in, we must be still with our Father.
Communing may look different for each of us, but one thing remains: our God is readily available and wants to be in relationship with us.
Invite Him to join you as you walk, friends.
With love + kindness,
Madison Leigh
reflect:
Set aside time every single day this week to commune with God. Take a moment to sit still with Him. Breathe in His love. Breathe out stress and worry.
centering prayer:
Abba, teach us to be still. Give us a deep longing to sit with you — to get to know you. Amen.
