persevere
“So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.”
Hebrews 10:35-36 NIV
Be confident and bold in the faithfulness of our King.
More than endurance and simply holding on until the end, perseverance is a steady confidence in the fulfillment of the Lord’s promises. It is a strong and vigorous faith built on knowing Christ—the foundation of our hope.
In Philippians 3:12-14, Paul shows us how to hold on to our confidence by forgetting what is behind and straining towards what is ahead. We press on by letting go of the past, disappointments and regrets and grabbing hold of our faith. Stamina increases when we know what we’re running towards.
Be confident in his love. Intentionally guard your heart today from anything that can affect your focus, energy, attitude, and mindset towards the will of God. (Pro 4:23)
Be confident in his word. We discover his will by renewing our minds with the Word and submitting to its authority over our lives. (Ro 12:1-2)
Be confident in his ways. There is power in a made up mind. Put faith to work and trust that God will meet all your needs as you obey him.
Now is not the time to shrink back in defeat. Now is the time to confidently take up space as one who has faith and is saved. (Heb 10:39) Don’t drift away. Don’t waste anymore time on the petty pursuits that so easily consume our lives. Focus on the precious value in the promises of God, so much so, others might see the worth of Jesus in their own lives.
Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain. (1 Cor 15:58)
centering prayer
Father, I trust no man. I trust no plan.
My confidence is in You. Give me the strength to keep running my race.
