dwell

“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness
    for his name's sake.”

Psalm 23:1-3 ESV

Psalm 23 reminds us that we have all that we need in the Lord.

As we head into the holiday season, it can be easy to worry. Do I have enough space to host my family? How am I going to afford Christmas this year? Will my travel be stressful? Many of us find ourselves asking these questions, or something similar, and step into a place where our worry takes over our joy.

Yet, in the midst of it all, our cup overflows.

We are reminded in Psalm 23 that we have all that we need in the Lord, and then some. He provides goodness, grace, love, mercy, and so much more simply because He cares for His children and wants to see us live a full and wonderful life.

Now, you may be asking yourself: Well, where do I start? How do I know what to ask for? Something wonderful about the Lord is that He already knows what we need before we ask. He knows what we’re going to need tomorrow, next week, or even eight holiday seasons from now!

And what we need looks different for all of us. Maybe this year you need comfort or guidance for a setback. And maybe two weeks from now you may need renewal or strength for a certain event. No matter what it is, the Lord will provide! He is true to His word, my friend.

May you dwell in the shadow of the Almighty and know — He is with you.

“God, my shepherd! I don’t need a thing. You have bedded me down in lush meadows, you find me quiet pools to drink from. True to your word, you let me catch my breath and send me in the right direction.” (msg)

With love,

reflect:

What am I worrying about in this moment? How can I identify it, give it to the Lord, and trust that He will provide?

centering prayer:

LORD, you know your children so well. I pray that you would help me to stay faithful in knowing you will provide all that I need no matter what worries arise over the holiday season.
