behold

“Blessed are those who listen to me, watching daily at my doors, waiting at my doorway.
For those who find me find life and receive favor from the Lord.”

Proverbs 8:34-35 NIV

In this ever changing world, only one foundation remains unshakeable—the Word of God.

We live in a time where we don’t know who to trust. The spirit of division weighs heavy on everyone, we’re told what we’re allowed to say, what we’re allowed to think, all the while seeking a game plan for surviving these uncertain times we face.

In this bite size, instantly gratifying, canceling culture, we need real wisdom. True godly wisdom—not what the latest influencer or Ted Talk has decided is truth. Jesus is the truth. His Word is the highest authority and supreme standard of wisdom. There is no neutrality (Jn 14:6, 17:17).

The scripture here says those who wait at his door, those who watch daily will be blessed. What does this tell us?
It takes time! Our pursuit of wisdom is intentional, not accidental. It requires patience to research, and understand, to process and reflect. But what happens when we do that? We are blessed, made holy and obtain favor from the Lord.

God wants us to listen to Him, open up our Bibles and allow His Word to shape our lives!

Society is going to change, science is going to change, your relationships and favorite trends will certainly change, but the Word of God is forever (Is 40:8). Jesus said in Luke 6, whoever builds their house on the rock will not be shaken when the flood strikes” (Lu 6:47-48). When we build our lives on Jesus we will remain secure no matter what comes our way.

reflect:

Proverbs 14:8 says “the wisdom of the prudent is to give thought to their ways, but the folly of fools is deception.” Are you building your life upon the wisdom of God or the opinion of man? Is the Bible the supreme standard of wisdom in your life? Take a moment to pray for our government and nation’s leaders to have hearts that seek true wisdom.

centering prayer

LORD, I long for your wisdom. Help me to prioritize patiently waiting on You. amen.
