offer
“Therefore let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and thus let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe,”
Hebrews 12:28 ESV
You were made by God, for God and will only be satisfied in Him.
Do you ever have one of those nights where you get under the covers, settle in and feel like something is missing? You think back to your day and check off all the boxes, but in the midst of it all your soul starts to ache and you realize — I didn’t offer my day solely to the Lord.
When we are first introduced to offering in church, we are more often than not taught about tithing. You bring an offering to God by tithing to the house you go to worship. But as you begin to dig deeper within your soul and connect with Him you start to realize that money is not the only thing we can offer.
Offering can look like getting up two hours earlier to meditate on the word and go to the secret place in prayer. Offering can look like showing up for your volunteer team every Sunday at church. Or even simply sitting in the grass with legs crossed and hands resting on your knees, open and ready to receive what God is speaking to you.
And in the midst of these moments you can find something so beautiful they all have in common — you are offering your whole self to God. Not just your Sunday self; not just your work self; not just your best mom self; all of you.
We are human and the world surely is loud, but when we take those moments to be solely with God, to give our time to Him — we form a relationship with Him that cannot be shaken. No matter what.
In the wonderful words of Steffany Gretzinger: “All He wants is everything. It’s not much. All He wants is everything.”
Be well,

What in my life am I holding onto that may be hindering me from offering my whole self to God?
centering prayer:
Father — giving, praising, whatever it may be — may my hands remain open in offering to you. amen.
