“The friendship of the Lord is for those who fear him, and he makes known to them his covenant.”
Psalm 25:14 ESV

Friendship with God reveals our new covenant relationship with Jesus.

We can wait in confidence in Him because he will never leave us nor forsake us (De 31:8, Ge 28:15).
God will never reject your humility and reverent fear that chooses Him as Lord and Savior over your life. His righteousness means he is incapable of betraying your trust. The whole counsel of God considers that He is completely holy, and the righteous judge of what is good and evil. He is also abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness to those who believe, repent, and seek Him above all things.

In his mercy and grace, He created a narrow path for us to choose the most essential relationship we could ever need through his perfect Son, Jesus Christ. As it says in John 4:16, “I (Jesus) am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” Jesus also reveals in John 15:14-15 that “You are my friends if you do what I command you. No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you.”

From these scriptures we know to follow Jesus as Lord is to obey his commands and uphold his authority in our lives through friendship with Him.

In the waiting, let us cling to his commands, examine our hearts before Him and humble ourselves under His all-knowing hand. Let us delight in the unfailing friendship we have with Christ and allow His living, breathing words to teach, strengthen and revive us to walk in his ways (De 7:9).

Those who wait on Him will grow in understanding, wisdom, discipline and knowledge. We will never be put to shame (Ps 25:3) because our endless hope in Him and His committed covenant relationship with us is everlasting (Ge 17:7).

In Christ,
Bomyee

reflect:

What is God revealing to you about the depth of his covenant with you? Are you finding joy in the fear of the Lord, his word and his ways? If not, what is holding you back? What is the Holy Spirit revealing to you through scripture, prayer and in biblical community these days?

centering prayer:

LORD, thank you for the depth of relationship with you and your promised holy covenant with us. I repent of anything that may have grieved you and pray for strength to always choose you and your Lordship. Thank you for your kindness, mercy and love. amen.
